The Manduka "Begin Mat" is a comfortably cushioned, beginner-focused yoga mat that encourages confidence from the ground up. The perfect yoga mat for those embarking on their yoga practice, its reversible design features an alignment stripe to help guide poses and keep you centred.

Features like the alignment stripe and soft cushioning are attractive to those who are newer to yoga. However, all are welcome to practice on it!

Grip needs to be better

Very poor grip for price point and how well known this brand is. There’s some suggestions around to make it grippier but being a “premium” product I shouldn’t have to do anything to it to make it do what it’s supposed to do. It’s pretty, lightweight and the centre line is helpful.

The Begin Mat has a closed-cell surface, which will never absorb moisture, because of this, if you are warm/sweaty at all, the mat will feel slippery, so we always recommend pairing it with a yoga towel to absorb moisture and provide extra traction.
