PROLite 5mm Long

Regular price$239.99 NZD

  • In stock, ready to ship

This mat is the baby sibling of the legendary PRO® 6mm but longer than a standard PROLite® by 200mm, offering cushioning, comfort and stability while remaining portable.

If you need some extra width too, check out the "Long & Wide" version that gives you an additional 150mm to spread out on!

The PROlite® yoga mat is the perfect solution for people seeking a lightweight yoga mat with superior quality and comfort. Ideal performance yoga mat for the studio and on the go.

The #1 mat recommended by teachers worldwide, built to last a lifetime, guaranteed.

If you do perspire a lot during your practice try a Manduka eQua mat towel or hand towel to keep you from slipping.

Some people find they have to break their PROLite® mat in for several weeks until the grip is established - we recommend using TRIBE Get A Grip Powder to give you excellent grip during that phase. To speed up the break-in period use the Salt Scrub Method.

  • Standard 1800 x 610 x 4.7mm to 5mm at 1.8kg
  • Long 2000 x 610 x 4.7mm to 5mm at 2.1kg
  • Long & Wide 2000 x 760 x 4.7mm to 5mm at 2.7kg
  • High-density gives ideal stability
  • Thickness provides cushioning for joint comfort
  • Fabric-like surface finish for optimal movement between poses
  • Professional medium grip, as preferred by teachers, allows you to flow between postures without sticking to the mat
  • Versatility on any surface (carpet, cement, hardwood floors)
  • Proprietary dot pattern bottom to resist sliding
  • Won't wear out. See Lifetime Guarantee
  • Won't peel, flake or fade. Product improves with use over time
  • Closed-cell surface for hygiene
  • Non-toxic, emissions-free manufacturing
  • 100% latex free
  • Please note: PRO® mats are hand poured and colors may vary slightly from mat to mat
  • Actual logo colour may vary

A firm mat that is supportive, not 'spongy' so allows your standing poses to remain stable and floor poses to be comfortable. If weight of the mat for transporation is not a consideration then think about a PRO® 6mm instead as it is larger and even more comfortable.

The beauty of the PROLite® 5mm is you get the benefits of the PRO® 6mm but in a more portable version. All around it is slightly smaller size and that brings the weight down substantially.

To Store: Roll Manduka PRO Series mats with the top side (fabric-finish) facing outwards. This keeps the corners of the mat flat when practicing.

To Break In: The surface texture of Manduka PRO Series mats improves with use. The best way to break in your mat is practice, practice, practice, but if you want to speed things up a little, try the salt scrub method.

To Clean: Keep your mat in the best condition by wiping it down after every practice. The PRO Series mats are tough, so while we recommend cleaning your mat with Manduka Mat Wash or TRIBE eco.clean, you can use household detergent and water.

Do not use solvents or harsh chemical cleaners and do not soak or submerge PRO Series Mats in water as this will encourage the material to break down, and these will void the Lifetime Guarantee.

Do not wash in a washing machine mostly because the mat is so tough it will wreck your machine!

Designed to last a lifetime (or two), Manduka PRO® series yoga mats curb the amount of PVC mats that enter landfills every year and reduces overall mat consumption (check out our Lifetime Guarantee). During the manufacturing of most PVC products, toxic emissions may be released into the air. However, PRO® series mats are manufactured through a process that ensures no toxic emissions are released into the atmosphere. The Manduka PRO® is certified safe for human contact by OEKO-TEX®*, a material certification agency in Europe for the textile industry.

Still breaking it in....

I wanted to wait a while before writing the review as I've read many reviews and was aware of the slipping at the beginning.
Unfortunately, I have sweaty palms and feet. I have a strong daily ashtanga practice which requires grip as I move a lot.
When I first got the ProLite I was so excited. Initial grip was fantastic as my palms and feet were dry but after 2 sun sals, I began to slip in down dogs. It was like being on a plastic water slide after 10m into practice. I salted it for longer than 24 hours, rubbing the salt in before and after, trying to 'exfoliate' the mat. It helped a bit but not that much.
I've been practising a long time so I understand that mats are very personal. A mat that suits one won't suit another. This mat is great for my hubby who has dry palms and hates my suede and rubber mats because he slips on them.
But for sweaty palms me, it's been a few weeks now and it's still slippery. I'm giving this mat a 3 for now and will update it when/if the grip gets better. Martin from Eco Yoga Store who was very helpful and friendly, have warned me about it and suggested using a towel initially which works fine. I'm still confident that the mat will grip more as time goes by but I'm a little disappointed that it's taking longer than I thought.
So my recommendation is, if you have dry palms and feet, this mat is awesome as it grips, feels great and has good cushioning. Weight is great as it's not as heavy as the Pro but still feels solid. I have plenty of friends who rave about their Mandukas so I trust that the brand is good. If you have sweaty palms, you have got to be prepared to put in the hard yards breaking it in. If you're a beginner with sweaty palms, prob give this one a miss.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience with us Jojo, and you are right that the PROLite yoga mat does require a break-in period to allow the grip to evolve, and this will differ from individual to individual exactly as you have found with the difference in grip between you and your husband when using the same mat. The PROLite is designed as a medium grip mat to allow you to flow between poses but with heavy perspiration this can mean that it feels slippery for some people, and hence our suggestion to pair with a yoga towel, although this can just be a hand towel, and only used when you feel yourself slipping or as required. For those who prefer not to use a towel then the GRP Adapt yoga mat is designed to absorb perspiration and maintain grip. If we can be of any further help please get in touch. Enjoy your practice.

Prolite Yoga Mat

I have had the same mat for the past 10 years and it is perfect for my practise. This mat has kept its surface in the same condition and I have never had any issue with it. If the puppy hadn't eaten chunks from my old one I wouldn't of bought another as it still had plenty of life in it.

Thank you Dave and Dave's Puppy, obviously we're sorry that your puppy facilitated you having to replace your PROLite yoga mat, but happy to hear that you liked it so much you replaced it like for like!

Fricken awesome!!

I’m in love with my mat. Such a joy practicing on it so far. I did the salt method to help break it in and I have found it perfectly grippy from the get go.
I am thrilled with my choice. Thank you.
