Wool has served humans' wellbeing for 8000 years, offering warmth and comfort in a non-harmful way. As organic matter, it biodegrades efficiently at the end of its useful life, leaving the earth nourished and ready to grow the next patch of grass. This mat is thick, luxurious and comfortable. The surface is printed with a biodegradable grip texture to ensure your hands and feet stay firmly in place. Yolana is good for your health and good for the planet.
The Yolana mat is thoughtfully crafted from 100% pure New Zealand wool, with no dyes or additives. The textured look comes from a unique blend of 90% white wool and 10% black wool.
Plus, every mat comes with a free cotton canvas carry bag!
What about when my practice mat gets wet from sweating during the practice?
Wool can absorb up to 35% of its weight in water, which is how it wicks sweat away from your mat so effectively. Once practice is completed, if wet, allow it to dry by leaving it flat for a while, preferably in a sunny area. That said, we don’t recommend to use our practice mat in hot studios, because humid and hot environments can shorten the shelf life of your new natural fibre practice mat.
How do I clean it?
The wool fibre is coated in its lanolin, which stops bacteria from attacking it. All you need to do to clean it is leave the mat flat out to dry after a sweaty practice, ideally under direct sunlight. If stained, spot dry cleaning is an effective solution.
Being a Yoga teacher, I am on my mat most of the day either teaching or for my personal practice. I was looking for something warm and comforting for Yin/Restorative, that would still have great grip for Hatha and other Yang practices. I found it! The Yolana pure NZ wool mat has all of these features in one mat and seems to be holding up well under constant use. Definitely worth investing in!
Thank you Carrie, great to hear that this mat is such a great fit to your requirements.
This Mat is beautiful quality and looks lush . I wouldn’t however suggest it if your practice involves a lot of downward facing dog as the grip itself is quite slippery and doesn’t support the hands in this asana
Thank you for your review and feedback Madeleine. Regarding grip, it is indeed a mat better suited for seated poses, however, long term users of the mat have expressed that by engaging the core differently and building up to the downwards dog, grip can be achieved for this asana., although it will take time!
